Kiddie Car Adaptation

The Problem

After an attack of meningitis this seven year old had her left hand and forearm, part of the fingers on her right hand and both legs amputated. She was no longer able to use her battery powered Kiddie Car.

The Solution

Accelerator switch was removed from floor pedal, fixed behind wooden central upright lever and controlled using her left knee. The steering column was extended and the original seats removed and changed. Seatbelt was replaced for safety. Isolation switch was fitted to the dashboard on the right side of the car. This allows the battery to be disconnected when the client is being lifted in/out of the car, ensuring the car remains stationary.

The Benefits

The client was overjoyed with her 'new' car as it allows her to play outside with her family and friends.
